Class Evaluation

Class Evaluation

1.Some of the things that I liked about this class was that fact that I was able to learn more about the way the internet works. I also enjoyed learning about how binary numbers work and how to make a colored image while using binary numbers. I enjoyed learning about people who did great things and who became great people by the actions that they did.

3.So of the things that I didn't like about the class was doing the assessments on code studio mainly because I would completely forget about them.

4. I have no recommendations for improving this class since in my opinion we did a lot of things and it never bored me and it was always interesting.

5.The highlight in this class for me is when at the beginning of the school year we had to find a way to send a message to our partner without talking to them. Another highlight was when we were making the black and white images along with the colored ones.

6. I tried my best in this class mainly because I want my future career to be something in the computer industry and this was going to be a very helpful class for that so from the beginning of the year I gave it my all and nothing less.

7. I am reading my life planning goal journal when ever that I can even when I go out of state. I find the journal very helpful since it allows me to get my head straight and only think about the goals I want to achieve it also helps me imagine what I need to do to get those goals accomplished.

8. I am committed to being a CTR and arete person because I think that this type of mindset is what make successful people successful because some of the best men and women in the world have this mindset and always have.

Computer Science Innovations

Asteroid Detector

1.The innovation is a asteroid detector that NASA created called Scout and what this does is that it can detect asteroid that could be passing near Earth days or weeks before its near.

2.This can impact the world because it will give NASA time to react in case there is a asteroid that can cause series damage to Earth because they can be alerted days before and deal with it before it can cause damage.

3.The problems that it will solve is that it will let people feel safer because they know that it can be detected early and be dealt with before it has the chance to cause massive damage.

4.I think that this innovation is something that we needed for a very long time because for a long time we learn of asteroids that are coming close to Earth when they are in really close proximity to Earth.

Internet Innovations

E-commerce

1.The innovation is E-commerce what this innovation entails is that you can buy products on the internet instead of going out and shopping.

2.This impacted everybody because you now have the ability to stay at home and buy things without leaving your chair. This made everybody's life easier because now instead of going through multiply shops and not finding what you want you can go on one website and find the majority of what you want. This also allows people to see what other people thought of the product you want to buy and you can see if it is worth getting or not.

3.It wont solve big problems but it will help us save money because if we see that a product has been reviewed badly we will most likely not buy it and save money.

4.I think that this innovation is something incredibly because it is revolutionizing how we buy things. The only bad things about this innovation is that companies might abuse it and make fake reviews to either make there product sound better when its really bad or to bring down a rival companies product down so that they sell more.

Ultraprivate Smartphones

Ultraprivate Smartphones

1.This innovation has the ability to encrypt clients’ voice calls, text messages, and file attachments. The company that made this is also planning on making a phone called the Blackphone which will use the companies software and other software to encrypt data.

2.It will impact many people because it has the ability to protect everybody who uses this software and in a world where everything is digital and stealing people's information is much easier we need a way for us to be save when using appliances that have the ability to connect to the internet.

3.It will solve the security issues many people have due to the technology that now exist in the world it will also make many people feel safer.

4.I think that this innovation is something that I might use because will right now I might not have that many things that I need to keep save in the future I know that I will and I would feel safer if I had this with me because there will be a time in my life where I will have data that I need to keep safe or it could mean bad news for me and my family.

Ben Carson

Ben Carson

1.Carson's achievements include performing the first and only successful separation of Siamese twins joined at the back of the head, pioneering the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, performing the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins, developing new methods to treat brain-stem tumors and reviving hemispherical techniques for controlling seizures.

2.This excellence was achieved by Carson never stopping and continuing his career and knowledge in the medical field.

3.Technology impacted this arete experience by allowing the surgeons like Carson to see the problems that the people that they treated had.

5.Reflection:I think that this is someone who has done so much good by allowing the advancement in his field of study and by doing this things he's done cause this has given many someone to look up to because he has shown that  somethings that people think were impossible he showed them that its not true. After hearing him speak I think that he is an even greater person because his greatest achievement was done by him doing the uncommon and doing a mixture of things no one else thought of.

Technology Innovations

Agriculture Drones

A.This innovation is that farmers are using agriculture drones to improve the treatment of there crop by being able to have a better image that a satellite can't capture this also helps them to see any problems that may appear.

B.This has the ability to impact many people because this can lead to more food that is healthy for all people by allowing farmers to see any problems that occur within there crops.

C. It will solve problems with many crops going to waste by the farmers being able to see what problems they have.

D.I think that this innovation is something great because it will allow us to have more crops which in turn should drop the prices of organic food because there would be a much bigger supply of them in circulation.

The Internet Giveaway

The Internet Giveaway

What it is:The Internet Giveaway is the moment that the USA's contract to control the internet expired after 47.This then gave way for a wide variety of people wanting the contract but some US states tried to stop the expiration from occurring by saying that this switch won't protect high-level information from gov and mil sites.Obama has been put under fire for what many people say selling the internet but this was something out of his power. This to me doesn't matter because it is said to not affect anything in relation to the internet so for now I am fine with the switch. This also means that other governments will have the ability to control the internet. This also gives private owners that ability to censor so many more things than they had the ability to do so before.

Roger Bannister

Roger Bannister

1.The excellence that was achieved was that he was the first person to complete a mile in under 4 minutes he is also a physician. He also became a distinguished neurologist.

2.Both of these goals were achieved by Roger practicing and studying incredibly hard on both of his goals. He considers his greatest achievement to be the contributions he made to medicine.

3.Technology could have helped this by allowing him with an easier way to study things that would have helped his career.

Reflection:I think that what he accomplished both athletically and in medicine are things that people in the future can look back to and say wow what a guy for being able to do all that he did.

Mikaele Oloa

Mikaele Oloa

1.The excellence that was achieved was that Mikaele is the youngest person to compete in the World Fire Knife Dance Championship where he won it in 2005 and 2006 at the age of 15.

2.This excellence was achieved by Mikaele training since he was 5 with his father since he was 5 he is also known to be able to dance with 4 knifes at once.

3.Technology impacted this achievement because it allowed for Mikaele to be seen all over the world because of his skill.

5.Reflection:I think that this is something very awesome because being able to dance with four knifes that are on fire and not burn your self is something that is rare but to also win a World Championship two years in a row is something to be even more proud about. To see him dance with those knifes is something to see because you see him do these things that too many people seem out of this world and for him to do them so easily just makes you think what am I doing wrong in my life. The way he moved with them was something to see because his movements where fluent and as far as I know there were no errors but then again he did train since he was 5 to do acts like this in front of a crowd.

Computer Science Innovations

Computer Science Innovations

A.The innovation I choose was one of being able to detect emotions with the use of wireless signals this technology works by using a EQ-Radio which is device that can detect a persons emotions with the use wireless signals by measuring the subtle changes in breathing and heart rhythms and the EQ-Radio has a 87% accuracy of detection emotions.

B.While now the innovation cant really impact anyone if the technology continues to improve this innovation has the possibility of being able to detect if a user has depression or anxiety. It can also be used to tell smart homes information about your mood and have it adjust accordingly.

C.It has the possibility to detect when a person has depression or anxiety it also has the ability to help us reduce our stress.

D.What I think about this innovation is that it is a really good thing because everybody in the world has a use for it and that it can be used by everyone for different purposes like telling if your child is mad or sad or being able to tell you what your partner is feeling.

Nanotechnology

1.Nanotechnology focuses on engineering at the “nanoscale,” one to 100 nanometers. The tools needed to see individual atoms were not available until 1981, so in many ways, this science parallels the computing revolution that facilitated it. Researchers have discovered that materials at the nanoscale can have unexpected and novel properties, resulting in a wealth of breakthroughs.

2.It has the possibility to impact multiple people because with this technology we can find treatments to different diseases.

3.It can solve many problems like finding new treatments for cures where we might not have treatments for.

4.I think that this innovation will be one of the most impact full innovations ever with all of the possibilities that this can achieve.

Blown To Bits Ch.3

Blown To Bits Ch.3

In this chapter of Blown to bits we learn that technology is a wonderful and powerful tool. We have been using technology for communicating to people who are almost half away or on the other side of the planet from us. We use the Internet to send a message in variety of forms, whether it be a pdf file, a video file, a img, or a document. However, what you receive doesn’t necessarily be the unmodified version. Thanks to technology, we are able to “undo” the edits of documents that have been made before sending it to you. There are a variety of ways we can possibly check for these signs. We can check the file’s name, it’s content and other things.

Blown To Bits Ch.2

Blow To Bits Ch.2

This chapter talks about the dangers of sharing private information on computers. It can lead to identity theft, stealing money from credits and many other things. Also they talk about how tracking devices can help you do things you could never imagine doing or figuring out.Not only that but by using tracking devices it can lead you to finding information about the government and other jobs as well. What mostly stood out to me was that using simple things like tracking devices to find out a lot of information about government things.

Luke Aikins

Luke Aikins

1.The excellence Luke Aikins achieved was to be the first person to dive from mid-tropospheric and landed safely without a parachute or a wingsuit and is the second person to land without a parachute.
2.This excellence was achieved the creation of 100 by 100 foot net that was made of spectra which is a high-density polyethylene cord which also had four compressed air cylinders designed to gently slow him down after impact.
3.Technology impacted this arete experience because it made this jump a successful one because without it he couldn't have landed safely or even been up in the air to start his dive.

5.Reflection:The achievement is something that many people would call crazy mainly because who would just decide to just dive 25,000 feet of the ground without any equipment to slow him down. This is a something many skydivers have tried to accomplish but couldn't until Luke Aikins came along and did just that. This achievement had taught me that anything in this world can be accomplished no matter how impossible it seem all you need is to believe in yourself and the impossible will now be the possible.

Marvin Goldstein

Marvin Goldstein

The excellence that Marvin Goldstein achieved was to become an acclaimed pianist and a well sought out performer. When he was 18 he was awarded a music scholarship to Tel Aviv University School of Music in Israel. He then completed his Bachelor and Masters of Music degree Florida State University. He achieved this excellence by never giving up and continuing to strive for his goal.I think technology impacted or could have impacted this arete experience because he could have used the internet to be able to spreed his music all over the world.

Reflection:I think the excellence achieved here is far from being one of the most important things done on this planet but it is something many people should strive for since learning how to play the piano is a very cool thing. From this I learned that any goal I have can be accomplished if I try hard enough at it. I also learned from him that if I put myself into something I will be able to complete my goal no matter how difficult it may seem now.
