Mia Hamm

Mia Hamm

1.Mia Hamm's excellence was that of many different things some of them range from being the youngest player in the United States woman's national soccer team at the age of 15 to wining many awards and being inducted into the Nation Soccer Hall of Fame.
2.This excellence was achieved by her trying hard and never giving up.It was also achieved by her giving it her all and continuing onto her goal.
3.Technology impacted her achievement by allowing thousands of people to not only see her live in the stadium but also in the comforts of there own homes.

Reflection:This excellence is something that can inspire many young girls because it show that no matter your gender you can become a great player that is respected by many for being able to play at the highest level of play there is.

Luke Aikins

Luke Aikins

1.The excellence Luke Aikins achieved was to be the first person to dive from mid-tropospheric and landed safely without a parachute or a wingsuit and is the second person to land without a parachute.
2.This excellence was achieved the creation of 100 by 100 foot net that was made of spectra which is a high-density polyethylene cord which also had four compressed air cylinders designed to gently slow him down after impact.
3.Technology impacted this arete experience because it made this jump a successful one because without it he couldn't have landed safely or even been up in the air to start his dive.

5.Reflection:The achievement is something that many people would call crazy mainly because who would just decide to just dive 25,000 feet of the ground without any equipment to slow him down. This is a something many skydivers have tried to accomplish but couldn't until Luke Aikins came along and did just that. This achievement had taught me that anything in this world can be accomplished no matter how impossible it seem all you need is to believe in yourself and the impossible will now be the possible.

Marvin Goldstein

Marvin Goldstein

The excellence that Marvin Goldstein achieved was to become an acclaimed pianist and a well sought out performer. When he was 18 he was awarded a music scholarship to Tel Aviv University School of Music in Israel. He then completed his Bachelor and Masters of Music degree Florida State University. He achieved this excellence by never giving up and continuing to strive for his goal.I think technology impacted or could have impacted this arete experience because he could have used the internet to be able to spreed his music all over the world.

Reflection:I think the excellence achieved here is far from being one of the most important things done on this planet but it is something many people should strive for since learning how to play the piano is a very cool thing. From this I learned that any goal I have can be accomplished if I try hard enough at it. I also learned from him that if I put myself into something I will be able to complete my goal no matter how difficult it may seem now.

  • Pierre and Marie Curie University:A Robot Survivor
A.The robot survivor by Pierre and Marie Curie University is a robot that can overcome any disability in about 2 minutes by using an algorithm named Intelligent Trial and Error which enables the robot to discover new behaviors like "basic survival skills" which enable it to operate when damaged. This one day could lead robots to be sent out for task like search and rescue missions.

B.This can impact many people because we for one can see how the robot would operate if we removed a limb and try and use its techniques on humans to help human adapt to the lose of limbs. It can also lead to robots being sent on search and destroy missions which can save many lives with there ability to adapt.

D.This innovation is something really big because this could lead to less deaths when there is a natural disaster.
